Day 3 of Summer Lovin' blog hop!

Welcome back! I trust your Sunday is going well and finds you in fine spirits. Just a quick reminder...there are two contests you can enter through this hop. Details at the end of this post.

Today I want to share a little from another new release of mine: Fever Hitch. This is the first tale in the Earth Con series, a collection of stories to come that center around comic book conventions and aliens. This story was a lot of fun to create, such as all the different alien species to discover. But it wasn't only me to delight in this creation. My heroine has quite a fun time of it as well.

Erotic romance, sci-fi, menage (m/f/m)

She'll be their perfect mate...if they can keep her satisfied.

Felicia Walker loves her job as an illustrator at Fever Hitch Comics. During this year's annual Earth Con, she will not only draw caricatures, but she'll also be decked out in body paint to represent the F'ldae -- an alien species from the comics. As she starts off a night exploring the off-limits, alien side of the convention, Felicia is unprepared for the spiraling events that will make her behave like a true F'ldae... in full mating heat.

Agent Slate Reese, along with his best friend Agent Ryker Seals, are Metons who want to settle down, but they're having a difficult time finding the female to complete their mating trio. With the vast assortment of alien species converging on this area, surely there's one female who wouldn't mind spending a night with both of them.

Excerpt:

“And these, ladies and gentlemen, are the new species you’ll discover over the next year in Fever Hitch’s new series. First off we have…”

Felicia Walker set her hand on her hip and prepared to follow her associate onto the runway. She, like a dozen other Fever Hitch employees, had been asked to dress in costume as the various new species the comic would introduce. As an illustrator, she’d been ecstatic at the opportunity. She’d chosen to represent the lovely F’ldae species. And because this species was known for their skin coloring, Felicia’s costume didn’t come with pounds of heavy-weighted material. Instead, she wore body paint. She’d spent all morning being airbrushed and the effect was so real she’d swear she wasn’t human.

“Up next is a F’ldae.”

Felicia strode onto the runway, stepping high in her heels, loving the way the micro-mini flirted about her swaying hips. The simple matching sling top barely covered her breasts, but showcased the gorgeous lavender paint to its best advantage. She smiled, amazed that she felt so confident striding in front of everyone in so little clothing, but the body paint made her feel completely covered.

The emcee addressed the audience. “The F’ldae is an extremely timid species specializing in modes of communication. They are the ones who will…”

Felicia turned at the end and struck a few poses as she’d been taught. The lavender color covered her sides and gradually darkened to a deep purple that ran in a line from her nape to her tailbone. Along her sides, the color slowly faded into a wavy vertical pattern, to her natural caramel skin color along her belly, breasts, neck and face. The lavender was offset by shadows of a mix of deeper purple and indigos.

To her mind, the F’ldae were the most gorgeous of alien species she’d seen, but she only knew a fraction of what was really out there.

“You’ll notice her left side is slightly different from her right by the addition of the subtle orange swirls along her ribs.”

Felicia raised her left arm and pivoted to showcase the markings better.

“This is a sign of a F’ldae in heat, where their desire to make love…” Everyone in the crowd cheered and laughed. Felicia couldn’t help it -- she chuckled along with them when the emcee lowered his voice to make it sound more seductive. “…overrides everything else in their lives. They stop work, they won’t eat, they won’t sleep until their bodies are sated. It may take many days and many partners” -- again the crowd grew loud with wicked cheer -- “but it will be quite a feature to behold. You won’t want to miss issue eight.”

The emcee dropped a few other facts and hints about the F’ldae, but his voice faded as she caught sight of a pair of men talking to Benny, one of their bosses, working at a nearby table.

What caught her attention was that they seemed… odd. They looked human in form, wearing casual suits and, she noticed when they glanced around the massive room, heavy sunglasses, but something was off. Her excitement ratcheted. Maybe they were aliens.

All of a sudden, as if her stare had physically touched him, the larger of the pair turned and faced her. He didn’t remove his shades, but Felicia trembled as if he had her in his arms.

A warmth, a desire flooded her instantaneously and she swallowed. She wanted to be near this male.

A little bit of how this story came to be...

I've always loved historical romance. Still do. I wasn't one who read the contemporary stories. No, from the time I was a teenager, I could not get enough of romance from times past. I loved the Regency time period, the wild west with cowboys and Indians. and I especially loved a great pirate tale.

When TB announced they were putting together a pirate collection, I jumped at the chance. Now my story is not as long as the historicals I typically read, and the erotic content is much, much higher, but writing about a sexy pirate captain and a determined young woman was a highlight for me. Read on for more...

"When is a pirate not a pirate? When he refuses to ravish a perfectly willing captive.”
– Lady Elise Clifton

Raphael de la Torres, the pirate captain El Angel, is notorious for kidnapping travelers to the colonies. He leads a rewarding life, and one that cleverly covers his true purpose—getting close to the cousin who betrayed him.

Raphael’s latest capture, the beautiful Lady Elise Clifton, is the one person whose ransom will give him an edge. Simple plans are rarely simple, however. He must deliver her untouched in order to have his revenge, but Lady Elise is desire untapped, and more than ready for the taking. His every effort to frighten and push her away only excites her and tests his limits of control.

Lady Elise is desperate to get out of an unwanted engagement. She will do anything to avoid being under another man’s control, even seduce a pirate to ensure her ruin. To her mind, once the Captain ravishes her—as all notorious pirates do—she will be free. Her plans would be perfect if the Captain would cooperate, but no matter how hard she tries, the sexy Spaniard refuses to take her to his bed.

With the currents stirring up between the two, will the sweet taste of revenge shift to a deeper passion, and will the control Elise is running away form be exactly what she needs?

Excerpt:
“It is so blasted hot,” Lady Elise Clifton complained. She’d stripped down to her chemise and was pacing the cramped cabin, praying for a cool wind to slip through the tiny porthole.

“You could go up on deck, you know,” stated her companion, Brianna. “There’s wind there.”

“I know, but I have to make sure I’m packed. You go on ahead if you want.”

“I might. I’ve watched you go through this bag every day for the past week.” Brianna upended the cloth satchel and repacked it, naming each item as she did so. “Look, you have a pair of slippers, a day dress, a corset with your money sewn in, the breeches and shirt I stole from my brother for you, a brush and ribbons. Same as yesterday. Same as the day before. Nothing’s changed. Besides, if we are attacked, I’m sure the pirates won’t be gentleman like and ask for your luggage.”

“You’re probably right, but if I’m to go through with this—”

If we’re attacked, that is.”

“Yes, if we’re attacked, then I want to be ready. I’ll not begin my new life empty handed and shy.”

“Like there ever was a shy bone in your body,” Brianna mumbled.

Elise heard and chuckled. “You know me well. And you do know what you’re to do if a pirate comes for us, right?”

“Do exactly what he says.”

“You sure you’ll be all right?”

“Elise, I’m here, aren’t I? I could have stayed in London, but I’m the one you’ve confided in all these past months. I couldn’t let you do this alone.”

Brianna’s brother, Elise had discovered several months ago, was a sailor in the British Navy, and he’d often write to Brianna with tales of the pirates they’d captured or those who had run away. When Elise’s father had determined she move to the colonies, Elise had paid closer attention and latched onto the tales, yearning to live the life of a pirate, a life full of independence.

“I’m this close,” she said, pinching her fingers nearly together, “to having the freedom I want, Brianna.”

“Well, your idea of freedom and mine are two different things. I still say we should have switched places. You could’ve been me and I would’ve assumed your identity. No one on this ship knew us when we boarded and surely no one will know us in the colonies. ”

“And you know I wanted to, but my uncle would recognize the falseness in an instant. I told you that my father sent him a portrait of me barely a year past.”

Boom!

Brianna screamed. “What was that?”

Elise turned to the sound and rushed to the window. “Damn, I can’t see from here. It sounded like a cannon.”

Another shot rang out and Elise spun around. “I bet we’re being attacked,” she said excitedly. “It’s time.”

Elise caught Brianna’s wide-eyed stare and laughed. “Don’t look so aghast. You know this has been my dream for months. With any luck, by nightfall I’ll be onboard the pirate’s ship and, if things continue my way, I’ll be debauched, lying in the captain’s bed and free from marriage.”

“You’re crazy, you know that,” Brianna said, a tremor in her voice. “Remember my brother writing about how violent pirates can be? And smelly? And ugly? You could wind up dead in the pirate’s bed.”

“Enough,” Elise stated with finality. “I’ll take my chances. Besides, I don’t care what he looks like, I can close my eyes. I can breathe through my mouth if he smells, and as for violence,” she turned to the cot she’d slept on for weeks and picked up the red velvet dress she’d secretly ordered and held it up to her chest, “I believe your brother also said pirates like women. A lot. Why would he want to hurt her if she’s willing?”

“But you will get hurt,” Brianna said earnestly. Shouts could be heard now from the upper deck. “Don’t do this, please. I went along with this foolishness because you’re my friend. I prayed we’d make the crossing without issue. I never imagined we’d really be attacked.”

“Brianna, settle down. Everything will be fine. Now help me into this dress. I must look scandalous.”

Elise felt for Brianna. She didn’t want to put her friend into an uncomfortable position, but she was sure everything would work out. She’d read all about what men liked from women in that naughty book she’d discovered on the top shelf of her father’s library a year ago. At first horrified, she’d taken to studying the strange words and even stranger pictures, and after hearing sordid whispers that being captured by pirates could mean the ruin of a woman, Elise had become obsessed. Now that she knew about sex, and what ruination involved, and that pirates were so handy to do the deed, all it would take would be one kidnapping and she’d be free from the fiancé her father and uncle had betrothed her to.

“There,” Brianna announced, helping Elise tug the sleeve over her shoulder.

“How does it look?” Elise turned in a slow circle.

“Like you’re a courtesan.”

“Perfect. But…oh, damn. The chemise shows.”

“What? You don’t have time to worry about that now.”

Elise glanced up. Brianna was visibly shaking. Putting aside her concerns, she took a moment to pull Brianna into a hug. “I promise it’ll be okay. I don’t know how, but I do. Trust me?”

Brianna squeezed back, snuffled into a dainty handkerchief and nodded. “I know there’s nothing we can do now, but I’m so scared.”

“Honestly, me too. But we can’t let them know that. I believe if we can stand our ground, we’ll make it through whatever comes our way.”

Brianna inhaled deeply and pulled away. “You’re right, of course. I’ll be fine. The attack simply took me by surprise.”

“Good.”

The friends stared at each other for precious moments, then a loud thud from above stirred them into action.

“Now, let’s get me out of this dress so I can take off my chemise. This shouldn’t take but a minute.”

“We don’t have time.”

“Pshaw. There’s fighting going on. We both have heard that men love to fight. It’ll be ages before anyone comes to find us. Besides, doing this will keep your mind off of what’s going on up there.”

Elise had requested the dress be made so she could put it on without assistance, but she wanted to keep Brianna occupied. As well as herself. If she sat down and wrung her hands in wait of what would happen over the next several minutes, she’d scream.

Brianna helped remove the gown and had just finished helping Elise pull off the chemise when the cabin door burst open. Brianna screamed and Elise gulped, standing frozen in place, naked, with her arms above her head.

She'll be their perfect mate...if they can keep her satisfied

Excerpt:

Ryker lifted the drink to his lips and took a long swig. “Ah, Tazar beer. Nothing else like it in the universe.”

“You aren’t shittin’ me,” Slate mumbled, sipping modestly of his drink. “Stuff tastes like crap. I don’t see how you stomach it.”

“Acquired taste, my man.”

Slate grunted and set his forearms on the table.

“Do you think we’ll get any hits?” he asked Ry.

Ry shrugged and watched various species interact on the dance floor. “It’s a big convention. We made our rounds, dropped our hints, left our contacts. Now we sit and wait.”

Slate rubbed his huge hands together. “Something feels off.”

“You ever been to a con before?”

Slate shook his head no.

“They always feel off, like the universe is tilted or something. I think it’s because of the huge intermix of species coupled with the fact that we’re in an alternate plane here. Remember, the humans have not accepted other species as a general rule, so our presence is still relatively unknown to the humans next door.”

Slate chuckled. “You’ve always been the analyzer.”

“It’s why you keep me as your partner.”

The men shared a brief chuckle, then Slate spoke up again.

“Remember that walkway over on the human side? It was near the booth for that comic book place.”

“You mean Fever Hitch -- they’re the ones sponsoring this whole thing. But yeah, I remember. Why?”

“Did you see the F’ldae onstage?”

“No. Really? They don’t go out much. That species is frightened of their own skin.”

“Exactly. So why am I seeing the same F’ldae on the dance floor?”

Ry whipped his head around to where Slate was boring a hole through a female. Yes, it was a F’ldae, and Ry couldn’t believe his eyes. The little female was snuggled up next to a Bulzant, and that overgrown plastic looking thing looked to almost swallow the female. She turned bright eyes up to it and said something that made the Bulzant quiver.

“Damn, I never knew that species could move like that,” Ry said, amazed.

“What? The F’ldae?”

“No, the Bulzant.”

“Does it look like she’s okay to you?”

“Who? The F’ldae? Yes. She’s jamming right along --“ Ry cut his words off as his eyes zeroed in on her.

“What?” Slate wanted to know.

Ry chuckled. “Looks like your timid little creature is in heat.”

“What do you mean?”

“Wait until she turns -- there. See the orange markings along her ribcage? When a F’ldae goes into heat, those markings show up.”

Ry shifted back to his drink and noticed Slate hadn’t taken his eyes off the female. Hmm…

On the human side, he’d noticed Slate staring at the walkway but hadn’t thought too much about it. It seemed that F’ldae had caught his eye. And seeing her move on the dance floor just a little bit ago had caught Ry’s eye.

A F’ldae. In heat.

They didn’t have to ask her to be their third in a permanent relationship, but maybe he could sweet talk her into being their third for the night.

Excerpt
Hope appeared in the middle of what looked to be a homeless shelter. It wasn’t what she’d pictured back at…
She shook her head and scratched it. Where’d she come from? Where was it that she wanted to go? Her mind acted like a blank chalkboard being looked at through a fisheye lens. Writing appeared hazy and indecipherable on the outer edges of the sphere, but the blackness in the middle was clean.
Her body tensed, reacted as if she should run. With wide eyes, she surveyed the area. People on chairs and benches were scattered through the large room. Broken windows and shattered glass doors at the entrance looked out upon a gray day. The other way revealed an opening to a courtyard type parking lot with long carports on the perimeter.
A young, Goth-looking cashier with black hair, white makeup and piercings in her lips, eyebrows and ears, gaped at her as if she had grown a pair of horns and sprouted a third eye in the middle of her forehead.
Hope wavered, trying to reconcile what was happening. She knew her name, knew that she had a family and wanted to be a dancer? But anything else? “Where am I? How’d…how’d I get here?” Her voice faltered over the questions. She stared at the teen.
“You in the ol’ bus term.” The goth snapped the gum in her mouth. “How ya got ‘ere is beyon’ me. Ya jist kinda appeared outta nothing.”
Another teen in his goth phase came up to them. “Yeah. Poof. There you be. Totes mcgotes cray-cray.”
“But I don’t want to be here.” Tears of frustration pooled in Hope’s eyes. She swiped at them. She was tired. She was hungry. She was dirty and hot. In the time she’d been in the bus station, dry, oven-like air had sapped all the moisture from her skin. She believed she was a walking piece of water-depleted, brittle clay, which would crumble into dust and blow away with the slightest touch.
“Then flash on outta ‘ere like ya did to git ‘ere.” The goth’s voice was monotone with no vestige of sympathy.
Hope closed her eyes, did her best to picture a place to go to, but none came to mind. Try as she might to ‘flash on out,’ she continued to stand amongst a bunch of uncaring strangers.
The goth shook her head and ran her black-nailed fingers through her hair. “Guess ya usin’ the door like the rest o’ us.” She chomped on her gum a few times, then tilted her head toward the exit.
