Did you get a Kindle for Christmas?

Yay! Lucky you! I personally own a Kindle and love it. Of course, I think it's also evil incarnate in how freakin' easy it is to buy books. Just wait...you'll see.

It goes like this...

You browse amazon, you may start off with a sample chapter here and there. Then you get sucked in. You want more. You HAVE to have more. And you do it. You hit the "Buy" button. It's so easy. No harm, no foul. And you, snuggled in your pj's, sipping spiked hot cider, can instantly read your brand new book.

Heck, what am I saying? It's ingenious! I love it!!

To get you started, why not visit my Amazon Author page where you can look at all the books I have for sale on this wonderful site. Take your time, read a sample or two, then get hooked. It's not hard at all to do.

Have fun and drop me a line to share your slide into darkness...erm, I mean, uplifting tales of how great the Kindle has made your life! *grin*

Visit my author page here: http://www.amazon.com/Ayla-Ruse/e/B006Z1JMXY/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_1

Here's to endless, sleepless nights of reading!

She won't have any place to hide once he gets his hands on her.

Tia's an intelligent, beautiful woman who'd rather remain at the sidelines of life. Including her sex life -- or lack thereof. She used to dream of finding pleasure in a man's arms, but she knows it's only fantasy. She's built different, or she's broken. Either way, it means she can't give in to the temptation to be with the man she wants.

Damien's been attracted to Tia for months, but with their differing schedules, it hasn't been easy to get close. When the perfect opportunity presents itself, he takes a leap, straight into her arms and straight toward...a lackluster coupling?

Presented with this challenge, Damien pulls out all the stops to ensure Tia has an unforgettable night, and it'll be the first of many if he has his way. Now that Tia has nowhere to hide, will she give herself over to Damien's care, or will she run away?

Excerpt
Tia peeked at Damien and couldn't stop a shy smile from touching her lips. He was studying her, which normally would unsettle her, but he seemed to be looking into her, not only at her outward appearance.

She took their quiet moment to return the study.

His hair was dark brown, and shots of deep auburn glinted when he moved his head toward her. He possessed a strong jaw, deep eyes the color of a wet forest and a perfectly straight nose set above full lips. He was somewhere around six feet tall. And then there was his build -- strong and athletic, the way a rower or swimmer's body might be cut. She stifled another sigh.

He'd been with the university for three months. He taught evening classes -- she thought she'd heard he still ran a practice during the day -- so their paths rarely crossed. When they did, like now, she felt like a ninny because it seemed all she could do was smile at him.

"Are you enjoying the party?" he asked.

"Umm-hmm," she nodded, noncommittal. Thankful he'd taken the reins of conversation. Besides, she couldn't just blurt out, take me to bed, could she?

"I wondered," he mused out loud. "I thought it odd to see you stuck in a corner by yourself."

"I'm not stuck in a corner," she answered, stifling her instinctive reaction to bristle. "I'm fine," she assured him. "I'm here by choice. I like being alone. It gives me time to think."

She had to give him credit for not laughing the way most men would have at that line and chime back, "Yeah, right, a blonde. Thinking." Instead, he tilted his head, and she shifted her legs again.

"What are you thinking right now?" he asked in a low voice. It was deep and hinted at a Southern drawl, but it wasn't twangy. No, it was more like warmed honey pouring slowly over her libido.

"I... um... thinking about..."

You. And me. And hot, sweaty sex.

He leaned back in his seat. "Don't worry, you don't have to tell me. Your secrets are safe from me. For now." He winked and she dropped her gaze to her drink.

"I make you uncomfortable," he stated.
"Me? No." She pulled her hands into her lap and sat up straighter.

"I'm not sure why, although I could take a good guess and I bet I'd be right. I like sitting here with you, Tia. I've wanted to get to know you since I first saw you at the new faculty introductions, but it seems like one or both of us is always going in different directions."

"I'm pretty steady," she answered.

He studied her quietly and she grew antsy.

"What if I told you I think you're on rocky ground?" he asked.

"Rocky ground?"

"You forget I'm a psychologist. I know a few things about you."

She wasn't sure if his comment was a good thing or not. "Hmm," she murmured, unconvinced.

"You want to hear what I know about you so far, Tia?"

She shrugged. "Go ahead. Give it a try," she challenged.

"I know you don't want to be here at this party. I know you're attracted to me, which is completely mutual. And I know you aren't sure how to bring up that last subject."

She blinked at him, speechless. Damien leaned forward, his voice barely above a whisper. "I know you'll leave here, go home and get in bed. But you won't be able to sleep because you'll wonder what it would have been like to go upstairs with me."

Theme Day from the Red Velvets!

Welcome to another wonderful Monday. Start your day off right by seeing just how some of the great story ideas for the Red Velvet Christmas stories came about...

Red Velvet Christmas: Ribbons and Lace
by Anne Kane

All he wants for Christmas is a sexy little elf!

When Leonardo Delgado fell in love with a woman who was already engaged, he resigned himself to loving her from afar. But when her fiancée ran off with another woman, he knew exactly what he wanted to make his Christmas Merry!

Amanda-Lyn doesn’t believe in love any more. She takes a job as  an elf at the local mall, and starts to rebuild her life. A nice one-night stand without all that romantic nonsense is all she wants this holiday season. It might have worked, too, except for her sinfully handsome boss and a jolly old matching-making man in a red suit and cap.

How I used the theme in Ribbons and Lace:

Red Velvet  features prominently in so many Christmas decorations, and in my story I used the cheerful theme to deck the heroine in an elf outfit, complete with ribbons and lace! Amanda-Lyn manages to land a job as Santa’s elf for the holiday season. How could the sexy mall manager resist her velvet clad hotness?

Thanks, Anne Kane

Red Velvet Christmas: Merry Mate
by B.J. McCall

What would you do to find your one true love?

A red velvet Santa's hat that only fits one's true love? Sierra doesn't believe in magic, but she's willing to give it a try and find her merry mate.

Banning is in love with Sierra, but the werewolves of Elk Mountain stick to their own kind. Banning would do anything to spend time with the beautiful she-wolf and he's more than willing to try on a Santa's hat to please her.

Humans are off limits, but what's a wolf to do when the hat is a perfect fit?

How I came up with my theme:

The name of the series evoked such wonderful images like red velvet cake, red ribbons, crimson ropes and Santa dressed in a luxurious red velvet suit. A Santa suit didn’t fit my hunky human hero, but a red velvet Santa hat trimmed in dark fur was perfect for my cowboy hero, Banning Hayes. I loved the image of Banning removing his favorite hat and putting on the red Santa hat just to please my werewolf heroine.

Thanks, BJ McCall

Red Velvet Christmas: Ribboned
by Megan Slayer

Ribbons aren’t just for decorating anymore.

Daria Elf never expected to be moved to the velvet ribbon department right before Christmas. She also never expected her boss to be the object of her wettest fantasies. Can she keep her cool, or will she end up on Raven's Naughty List?

Raven Elf has his sights set on Daria. He wants her for his department, his bed and bound in his thick velvet ribbons. He'll get his girl, but the hard part is convincing her that their connection is meant to last.

How I used my theme:

Red velvet was very important in my story because it’s where the hero and heroine have work—the ribbon room! They get to make the pretty bows for the packages and the wreaths. But Raven, the hero, isn’t interested in using the ribbon just for presents—he’s going to use the ribbon on Daria, the elf and his assistant. I’d seen pictures of people using red ribbon for BDSM play and knew that’s what Raven would want to do, too. So red velvet is incorporated in the BDSM scene for Daria and Raven.

Thanks, Megan Slayer

Red Velvet Christmas: Yet To Come
by Zenobia Renquist

He's so bad and so good for her at the same time.

Rae is a ghost of Christmas future. Her track record for making people see and turn to the light is unblemished, except for one man. Zane has hit her list for the third and final time. The incentive he wants to be good is one she refuses to give him. Rae cannot be with a man who allies so easily with bad, but her desire demands she not be without him. At sunrise Christmas morning, her powers fade and with them any chance she has of seeing Zane again unless he can convince her the best is yet to come.

How I used Red Velvet:
Each of the Ghosts of Christmas (past, present and future) has a cloak they wear that helps them do their jobs. Rae’s is red velvet. When I heard the theme for this year, I automatically knew it would be a cloak.

Thanks, Zenobia

Red Velvet Christmas: Hearth and Home
by Ayla Ruse

What’s an elf to do when she finds herself between Hearth and Home?

Santa strives for peace and harmony, not only on Earth, but in the Otherworlds as well. This year proves that peace-keeping is no easy task. First, he has an unhappy elf on his hands. Nikki runs one of his gift departments, but the corporate world is not making her happy. She wants a husband and her current elf pickings are slim. Second, Santa’s received a request from two of Bindoal Dimension’s most prominent males…Kobol Home and Braun Hearth need a wife. Santa’s easy solution? Put the three together and let them find a happily ever after.

For Nikki, Kobol and Braun, however, Santa’s gift comes with unexpected surprises. Nikki believes this is a one-night stand. Braun does not care for elves, and Kobol’s afraid Nikki will want to return to the corporate world.

Even though sparks ignite between the three, will this be enough for them to create a happily ever after, or will their expectations make for a regrettable Christmas Eve?

How I used my theme:
When I thought Red Velvet, bows immediately came to my mind. And what do bows usually go around? A present, of course. This idea, combined with my desire to continue to use one of Santa's dedicated elves, spurred me to create this story. Why not have Nikki in red velvet, which the men have to unwrap, in order to receive their present?

Thanks, Ayla
