In Pictures: I Am Woman

Speaking as a woman, and for women in general, we love to feast our eyes on the beauty of the male person. What's not to love? Ropes of muscle, overwhelming size and strength, planes and sharp angles. Our eyes soak up the images which translate into stories, fantasies, daydreams...or simply appreciative sighs. But we oftentimes overlook the beauty of ourselves.

Women are creatures of beauty as well. We are strong, we are light and darkness combined. We are curves and soft spots and smooth edges. We have an inner glow that can just as easily captivate and capture the attention of others - be they male or female.

In today's pictorial, I celebrate ourselves as women. Not so much for body image (that is completely overrated), but because I love what these pictures embody as a statement of being a woman...

I have this image on my Facebook page. I love how she continues to move through the tangles of life...

We are passionate...

Sheer power and glory. A prayer. A thanksgiving. An image of independence and life...

I *love* this image. We are warriors - never forget. Our guises may be different, but we each hold the heart of a warrior within...

Come full circle. We are who we allow ourselves to be from the inside out. Look closely. We are all Queens. We are: Woman.

Celebrate yourself today - or a special woman you love and adore. And have a wonderful Saturday and weekend ahead.

Wednesdays Words to Inspire: Immediacy

Write while the heat is in you. The writer who postpones the recording of his thoughts uses an iron which has cooled to burn a hole with. He cannot inflame the minds of his audience.

~ Henry David Thoreau

There is something to be said for writing to a schedule. Don't, however, chain yourself into a rut where you miss the golden opportunities to pen something amazing that hits you out of the blue...

Picture Day in Silhouette

I love silhouettes. Seeing only an outline, a shadow or bits and pieces perhaps, makes my inner well of imagination jump for joy. I can immerse myself in the picture and make it mine. All mine. I can add my own colors, textures...stories. Even innocent silhouettes carry their own brand of breath-catching what-if's. Possibilities are endless, and endless ones are my favorite kind.

Enjoy today's batch of pictures where I tip my hat to the silhouette.

Being sneaky

Waiting

Pensive

Gotta love Cowboys

I had to throw this in - it's a custom made shower curtain from a shop on etsy.com. Click here to see more creative (and sexy) designs. Very clever.

Have a wonderful Saturday ~

Wednesday's Words to Inspire: Goal Setting

Goal setting in writing, as in anything in life, should be simple. What you do to get there, should be simple. It doesn't have to be notebooks filled with detailed plans - unless that floats your boat - but there is power in knowing what you want. Despite any blocks in your path. If you know what you want or what you want to be, most of your battle is behind you. This is why I love the following quote so much. Read it and let it sink in...

First say to yourself what you would be, then do what you have to do.

~Epictetus

Tuesday's News & Updates

Wow. It's already mid-month. Of April. The time does fly away. Here in the deep south the weather is waffling like crazy. I mean, some nights going down into the 30's and the days are hitting in the 90's. You have to carry a change of clothes with you all the time!

Other than carrying suitcases around with me, I'm staying a busy bee. Here's a look at what's up with me lately:

  • My new website is LIVE! The URL is pretty simple - http://www.aylaruse.com   If you haven't had a chance to check it out, don't put it off another minute. Click here to head straight on over.

  • *Contest* Yes, I am running a contest right now on my website. To celebrate my site's launch, I'll be giving away 2 gift certificates for $10 each to two lucky winners. GC's to where? It will be winners choice of either Amazon.com or Barnes and Nobel.com. Details are on the home page of my site.

  • I'm hot and heavy into my next story - a BDSM take on a fairy tale for the Changeling Press Forever Wicked multi-author series. Click here to see what's out already in the series. What's my fairy tale? {wicked grin} you'll have to stay tuned to find out. Let's just say a spoiled female gets her comeuppance in a way she'll not soon forget...

Whew. That's it for the immediate. I do have a few other notes to share up my sleeve, but it's still early. I'll reveal my secrets in due time. ;) Thanks for stopping by!

Picture Day - and Nothing Butt!

Okay, so a few weeks ago I explained how my want of a butt pictoral met with poor ends - pun intended. I didn't give up, however, and I have been able to slow down to gather some fantastic shots I think you'll greatly enjoy as well.

*sigh* I don't even have to say anything, words are absolutely not necessary.

Have a Happy Saturday and a great weekend!

Tuesday's News and Updates

Hello, Tuesday. It is absolutely amazing how time flies around here. Long gone are the days of "I'm bored," and "there's nothing to do." Now it's all about "there's not enough hours in a day."

Okay, so what's happening with me this week? Take a peek...

  • My website will debut this Friday. I am super-excited. Check back on Friday for the link and some bonus information. Maybe even a contest...

  • How does Buy 1 Get 5 Free sound to you? Great, right? This could be you. All you have to do is hop over to Total E-Bound and purchase your copy of The Fires of Beltane, and you'll be entered in TEB's Scared Stiff Contest for a chance to win 5 ebooks! For contest details, click here.

  • Bad Gone Better, the second Doppelganger story with Changeling Press, is turned in. Release date will be this summer. Details to come...

  • I've started work on two - count 'em - two stories. They're at complete odds with one another in content, theme and even genre, so it'll be interesting to see if I can work this way. If not, *shrug*, I'll concentrate first on my story for Changeling Press' Forever Wicked series.

  • I have a WINNER!!! Huge congratulations to Brandi S. She won her choice of one copy of Good Gone Bad or The Fires of Beltane. How did she win? She commented on one of my blog posts for the Hoppy Easter Blog Hop this past weekend. Thanks, Brandi, and big hugs!!
Have a great week, everyone, and take care ~ Ayla
