Would you make love With the Lights On?

I can't speak for everyone, but most people would say no. Reasons are many, but for my heroine in With the Lights On, she can hide better in the dark. What happens when she has a lover who won't bend to her wishes for cover? Find out in my latest release from Changeling Press--now available from some of your favorite ebook sellers! Read on for more...

Tia is an educated, independent woman who's come to terms with her less than stellar love life. She's had various lovers, but she also knows her body is not made for sex like other women's. She enjoys the foreplay, to a degree, but get past that and it's nothing but disappointment for her.

That is, until Damien puts her to the test. He's bound and determined to show the sexy sociologist that she can be just as receptive to pleasure as any other woman, no matter what it takes. She won't have any place to hide once he gets his hands on her, yet will she be able to give herself over to his seductive demands?

“Well, damn,” Damien exclaimed softly. He straightened and rested his forehead against hers. She felt the rapid beat of his heart against her chest. But…

Why isn’t he touching me?

“Damien, are you all right?” she asked hesitantly.

“No.” He exhaled. “And neither are you, it seems.” He was a little out of breath, and had moved his forearms to the door on either side of her head.

“What do you mean?” Tia gave a little wiggle and ran her nails down his ribs. She peeked at him through her lashes and tried a seductive smile. All for naught, though, because his eyes were closed.

“I’m so sorry, Tia. I brought you up here because I’ve wanted you for months, and your words downstairs were a challenge to me. Then we got so caught up, I forgot…”

She watched him mutely. Unsure. When he opened his eyes, she couldn’t look away.

“I bet this is what happens, isn’t it? Some guy gets you interested, you two go at it, then he’s the one racing ahead.”

“It isn’t like I sleep around or anything,” she whispered, not wanting to admit how right he was.

“No, I don’t think you do. And this is a good reason why I suspect.”

Keeping his gaze locked with hers, he set his hand next to her breast, over her heart. Her calm and steady heart.

“What happened?” he asked, barely making a sound.

She dropped her gaze and shrugged her shoulders. “I told you downstairs. This is me.”

He didn’t answer or move, and she looked back up at him, trying to read this unusual man who’d stopped loving her because of her sudden lack of enthusiasm.

The silence made her uncomfortable. “What now?” she asked. “Should I go? I should go, shouldn’t I?” She shrugged again and tried to straighten, but Damien wouldn’t budge.

Then he did the oddest thing yet. He gave her a chaste kiss on her forehead, the tip of her nose, and ended with his palm nestled against her cheek and a soft kiss to her lips.

These innocent moves, delicate touches, made her tremble as nothing else ever had. “Damien.”

“You aren’t going anywhere,” he whispered across her lips. “I’ve wanted you too long, and I think you’ve wanted me, too, or else we wouldn’t be here. I want to make this good for you. For us. But it’s going to take an effort on your part. I want you to let me try to take you there.” He continued to place soft, easy kisses over her eyelids, her brow, her cheeks, the corners of her mouth.

“Where?”

His smile across her cheek made her return the gesture.

“Let me make love to you, Tia. Listen to me -- I’ll say it again. I want to make love. To you. With you. And I don’t care how long it takes, I’ll make it good for you. But you have to trust me.”

Tia opened her eyes, feeling him pull away. He still cupped her cheek and she rested against his palm, loving the strength in his large hand. He ran his thumb across her lip and waited.

Blurb and Excerpt from Five Courses

Paying the price for breaking the rules has never been so delicious.

Trent and Mike rule their kitchen like they do their subs—with firm command and guiding strokes. Only they haven't enjoyed a sub in months, not since Melissa moved in with them. She's getting over a broken heart and seems so fragile that they don't want to scare her away.

When the men come home from their club early one night, they catch her breaking just about every rule they have in their kitchen. Now the gloves are off.

Melissa, trembling under their gaze, is given ten seconds to decide her fate—she can walk away and lose any hope of growing her relationship with these men, or she can stay and submit to their creative punishment for her misdeeds…

Excerpt:

Mike turned to her fully. “Melissa, I appreciate your understanding of how important our kitchen is to us. I appreciate that you apologised for your error in judgement tonight. But tell me, have you done this before?”

She bit her lip, and curled her hands around the counter’s edge, her knuckles turning white. She wasn’t afraid of being hurt by them, but she was afraid of the unknown. Would they beat her? She didn’t think so. Would they chew her out and tell her to leave? Would they fire her? God, she hoped not.

“Your silence is telling us your answer must be yes,” Trent murmured, and cupped her cheek in the large palm of his hand.

“I believe you’re right,” Mike agreed. “It’s all adding up now. For several weeks I’ve noticed odd little things. A stray bit of crumbs in the corner, a crumpled-up napkin from that frozen pizzeria, shoved in the trash. A lone bottle of cheap beer stowed in the back of the bottom shelf of the fridge. Not to mention having sexy dance parties here, in our kitchen, instead of her flat.”

“So tell me”—Trent took over, crowding her against the counter—“do you defy us in our own place to spite us? Or because you want us?”

The latter truth of his words shot through her body and she knew her face confirmed his suspicion. Before she could make one sound, Trent growled and crushed his mouth over hers, licking at the seam until she opened with a surrendered moan. He darted his tongue in fast and swept over hers, exploring her beyond what any man had ever done.

He placed a hand over one of her fists gripping the counter, and slid his other hand to the back of her head, holding her still for his onslaught. He stepped even closer and she trembled when his erection pressed against her belly. Oh God, this cannot be happening.

She lifted her free hand to his waist, but a stinging slap to the back of her hand made her cry out into Trent’s mouth. Mike’s voice cut through the sexual haze burning through her.

“You don’t move unless we give permission, Melissa.”

Trent finished his soul-stirring kiss with a long lick over her swollen lips. He lifted his head, but he didn’t back away.

“We are going to take you, Melissa,” Trent informed her, his eyes boring into hers. “We will use you, pleasure you, fuck you until you can’t walk, then we’ll do it again.” He stepped back three steps and stood next to Mike, who still held that spatula. Despite his brutal language, she could see the excitement in their faces.

Mike added to Trent’s words. “You have ten seconds to make up your mind. Your choices—you can run up to your flat. We’ll clean up, you promise to never invade our kitchen such as you have tonight, and we’ll forget the entire incident. Tomorrow it’ll be like this never happened.”

Chocolate and New Year's Resolutions

Everyone's been all over talking about the New Year and Resolutions. What are yours? What are mine? What are his or hers or theirs? Argh. Not me so much. Not this year at least. I think I'm going through the fuddy-duddy somethings.

In previous years, I've been all about the Resolutions. Posting notes, reminders, Googling helpful input and insight. Sometimes my resolutions are about my health, sometimes about my writing, sometimes about home life. I'm usually the one to rally the troops, so to speak, and encourage everyone in my house to do the same.

This year, I haven't given it too much thought. I've actually had people approach me first to ask my resolutions. Wild--to me at any rate. So I muster up a few answers: get fit, drink more water, write more and better. But, these are things I'd planned on doing anyway, not just because it's the new year.

Ah well, I am not a beleaguered Scrooge and I'm not down on New Years, but hey, this is just where I am right now. It's really all good, because we all get to those points from time to time. I know that in another few weeks (if that long), I'll be hepped up again.

On another note, something that definitely has me happy right now is chocolate. Then again, this isn't new for many of you, is it? But I've recently come to realize my chocolate intake is going on cycles. I think. I haven't repeated anything yet that I know of, so maybe it's just skipping rides? lol

Let me say first that I'm not a huge chocolate fan. I love it, don't get me wrong, but I'm the type of person that, if presented with a bag of chips and a candy bar, I'll almost always take the bag of chips. But I do get into chocolate moods. Why? Who knows. Maybe it hits me in that time of the month, maybe deadlines spark the craving, it could also be that I'm in that early pre-menopausal state (according to my doctor).

It started awhile back with Mr. Goodbar candy bars. I ate them like crazy. Anytime I ducked into a pharmacy or conveinent store or a checkout of just about any kind, I'd toss in a Mr. Goodbar.

Then that phased out.

Next was Take5 candy bars. Ummm, SO freakin' delicious. Salty and sweet in one bar. Ah-maz-ing!

But, this too faded.

I believe Snickers were my next indulgence. Not the whole bars, mind you, but the little bite-sized pieces that come in bags. Bags, people. I would consume a bag in one sitting and be looking for more. I even priced these suckers and found out from which store I could get my fix for the lowest price.

As all good things end, so did my Snickers fascination.

I went chocolate free for awhile. Even over Christmas, nada. I was good.

A few days ago, my niece came by with precious little tins of candy for my boys. Narrow reusable tins filled to the brim with Twix candy bars. Let's just say, the boys have had to hide their little containers from me to the point that tonight I stopped by the store and picked up a mega huge sized Twix bar(s). Maybe this'll get me through the night?

So, how does chocolate mesh with my resolutions? Ha! They don't. :D

No matter if you made resolutions or chunked them already, and no matter if chocolate or peanut butter is your secret indulgence, it's all good, people. It's all good.

Have a Happy New Year and a Fantastic 2014!

Until I jot again,
Ayla
