In Memoriam

I've just come back from attending a Memorial Service for a recently deceased neighbor. Short and lovely, it included taps, a gun salute and the presentation of the flag to the widow. Yes, the deceased had been a veteran. I was touched by the entire ceremony.

This person had largely kept to himself, and the service was attended by his small family and a few neighbors and friends. It wasn't big. It wasn't lavish. Yet it held honor. It struck me then, that no matter what kind of life a person lived, no matter what state his or her mind, having a funeral service of any kind breaths respect and reverence into the life he or she led.

It was beautiful that this person could have the kind of respect his memorial service garnered.
May all those who have passed before us rest in the same reverence and respect.

It's Cherise Time!

First, can you believe I forgot about Valentine's Day?! What's wrong with me?

Nothing, actually. The big V day hasn't been too big for me in a long time. I still think it's a great holiday, don't get me wrong, but since my anniversary falls in the same week, I tend to make a much bigger to-do about this great day. So sorry I didn't get a blog in for that day. :(

This brings me to another issue. Where have I been lately? "Busier than a one-armed paper hanger," humorously pops into my mind, and it's just about right. My "life" has finally, finally, finally settled into something of norm here lately and hopefully everything will get back on track without much issue.

A little something that's helped bring me back down from all my running is Cherise Sinclair. A great author, anyway you look at it. I don't know about you, but if you're anything like me, you spend nearly all your time making decisions at work, at home, with the kids, with the family, with practically everything you touch. This is where I depend on the fantasy world of erotic fiction. When me being in control is running me ragged, I kick back with a story from Ms. Cherise. For those hours I'm reading, I don't have to be in control. I don't have to make any decisions. My eyes are glued to the screen, my mind is enthralled with the story that unfolds before me, and simply by reading how the heroine submits to her Dom...leaves me all soft and mellow, while my worries and frets flow away, allowing me time to breath once more.

Enjoy your weekend upcoming and get some rest!

I wish I were computer savvy enough to embed this awesome clip directly into my blog. Unfortunately, I'm not. I will try to share it directly on my facebook page, however. Wish me luck.

What has peaked my interest so much? Two cellists "dueling." The above is a snapshot of what's in the video. How can this be exciting? I'm sure you're imagining two staid performers on a bare stage performing something from Mozart or the like. This is anything but. I love to see what is perceived as a "classical" instrument being played with more emotion than what most people believe.

In the clip you will view the following: Imagine two guys, one woman caught in between, and two cellos. Now mix in heated emotion, and the result is this great video. Enjoy!

Somebody Messin' With the Time?

Man, oh man. I do believe some little evil dark elf has crept into my home and adjusted all the clocks, buttons and time keeping devices in my life. Okay, maybe not a dark elf as he'd no doubt care less about my time. A brownie, perhaps?

Irregardless, something has happened because all of a sudden, I simply do not have enough hours in each day. Unless I forgo sleep. Sorry, I'm too fond of what little sleep I do snatch that I'm not going to jump up to sacrifice this.

Have you had days, weeks even, like this? I'm talking about being busy to the point where I literally set my kids in a line and enforce the one-at-a-time, take-turns rules even apply to needing me, as I am only one person. Busy to the point that three days go by before I realize I haven't even had the first chance to open, much less glance, at my emails. Busy to the point where I'm semi running through the house because walking wastes too much time. Around every blasted corner lately there is yet another demand or another appointment or another deadline of some sort. Whew.

Today, however, I've come to the point where I'm simply letting everything else pass by. I need to do housework. I need to make school lessons. I need to prepare info for taxes. I need to finish that difficult book I'm reading. I need to get another few thousand words on paper. I need to do more research. I need to catch up on loops and blogs and web sites and facebook (groan).

Well ya know what? None of those things are going to get done.

Ha! Take that - Oh domineering things that think they run my life.

Ah, but I lie. Of course I'm going to write. Squeezing time to do this is precious as it is. But as for all my other ten million "to-do's," they're hanging out to dry until another day.

Hope your day goes by smooth and easy...
