It's a special day and you're invited to the party!

Welcome and Hello!

Today is an exciting day for me in so many ways. The best is that it's my birthday! Yes, I am another (gasp) year older, but I want to celebrate. I think, now that I'm halfway through the 40 years, I've come to terms with my age. It has been several years since I've truly wanted to celebrate, I'll be honest. But this year, I want to shout and sing and dance and share it all with you. Let me tell you more...

For the past couple of days, and a couple of days yet to come, I've been over at the TRS Party Site participating in their Christmas Party. I've been posting recipes and excerpts and links to free reads--all sorts of exciting fun.

Today, however, is extra special.

See, for coming to the party alone and entering the TRS contest form, you can opt in for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate from me to

What makes Saturday, December 19th so special then?

For my posts for today only, any person who comments on my posts will have an extra entry into the chance to win my gift certificate. In addition, and again this applies only to comments on my posts today at the TRS Party Site, you will have a chance to win an ebook of your choice from my backlist. (Please note that both winners will be chosen at the close of the TRS Christmas Party)

So stop on by, don't be shy.

All you have to do is click on my name (located down on the right hand sidebar of the TRS Party Page) to see my posts for today. My posts start in the seven o'clock hour and are scattered throughout the day. Comment, and you're in!

Thank you for all your love and support.

As an author, I write not only for my sanity, but for your enjoyment. And especially through the stressful holidays, my greatest wish is that my stories will bring satisfaction your way and soothe those bumpy days away.

#ScintillatingSunday Meets a Djinn

Welcome to today's #ScintillatingSunday blog hop. Make sure to enjoy all that the authors are offering--links are at the bottom of this post.

Today I bring you Rebecca, a centuries old Djinn who finds herself in the unenviable position of having a cruel and heartless master. There are two men, however, who've caught her eye. They remind her of master's she'd had ages ago, but they are off limits to her unless her current master releases her--which she believes could never happen.

As a Djinn, however, she works well with loopholes. In the 8 paragraphs below, she's taken the prerogative of her master's order to shift it to one of the men she wants. But will it work?

#Excerpt from To Free a Djinn by Ayla Ruse

“Just do it, " Rebecca urged. "Say ‘my means Nico’s’.”

“My means Nico’s?”

“Thank Allah,” she said on a sigh and eased away from the door. Braden had been right. If her master did not give her specific commands, she could interpret them as she wished. Braden had indeed left her a loophole by not repeating his own name in his command.

She approached Nico in slow, measured steps, letting her hips sway seductively. He seemed unmoved as he stood his ground and crossed his arms, tilting his head when she looked up into his clear, blue eyes. His pose screamed uninterested, but his tight swallow gave away his desire.

She licked her lips, grinned, and dropped to her knees. As soon as she set her hands to the front of his jeans, framing his hard erection, he stepped back.

“No, Rebecca,” Nico said, closing his hands around her wrists.

“Oh, but I have to,” she said. “I have been commanded to give a blowjob. Braden was vague on the recipient.”

"Are you his sub? His slave? The questions sounded like a mix between hope and disgust. Interesting. She wondered how he felt about the two.

To Free A Djinn

Rebecca, a fiery, beautiful djinn, quietly assists her magician master, hating every moment they’re together. His command over her is growing and she finds herself desperate to get away.
Nico and Justin, magicians sharing the stage with Rebecca’s master, want to help her escape. Once they become involved, however, they discover magic is not the only environment where illusions deceive. Nico and Justin want Rebecca for themselves, but what will it take to gain her submission when she’s vowed to never be bound to another?

What?? Take a break??

This is always running through my head. ALWAYS. Between running errands, keeping house, taking care of six peoples, animals, events, finances, entertainments, pencils, paper, ink, and yeah, you know the story. It goes on and on and on...

I, like you I'm sure, push myself to my limits and beyond. There comes a time when all my pushing backfires.

Take yesterday, for example. I knew a crash was eminent when, while reading Harry Potter to my youngest, I had a "blackout." Here I am, reading out loud, and two pages later I don't remember a single word I'd read. Not one word! I glance at youngest and he's still listening aptly, so I take it that I didn't digress into some kind of other-world. But still--reading freakin' aloud and not knowing what I'm reading? For shame!

After tucking everyone in bed last night I sat down at my trusty computer to knock out a couple thousand words on my NaNo story. I *must* do this, I tell myself. It doesn't matter that my eyes are bleary and my mind is wandering. I must!

I sit in front of the screen. I check a few social media outlets. Update a few. I stare at my story again. I know what I want to write, but my fingers won't seem to work and my mind skitters off topic like when your tires hit a huge rain puddle and your car skids off to the side. Yeah, I mean it to sound that drastic because that's how I felt.

So I decide a short nap is in order. Yes, it's somewhere between 10 and 11 pm. I think. A fifteen minute nap will work wonders. THEN I'll be able to write.

Well, I'm sure you know what happened next. I crashed. Hard. My mind and my body worked together to lamblast me into sweet oblivion until I blinked my eyes away to the dawn of this morning.

At first, curses filled my head. I didn't get my 2K in last night. What to do? I couldn't start writing right away, nor could I write--nor do I write--during my hectic, busy day. It's taken me most of the day to come to terms with this and tell myself that, you know, it's truly okay. My body obviously knew what was best for me better than I did. I may say sleep is overrated, but there's no denying it's pretty damned important.

So I've had another hectic day, but I feel better. I've realigned my thoughts and know exactly where I plan to begin tonight with my words. Am I doubling up? Probably not. I'll squeeze in extra words along the way, I'm sure. It's still early on in the month.

So if you're behind or haven't started or just know there's no time!! Don't stress. It won't always be like that. Some days will be better and some not so great. Roll with the punches, as that famous saying goes. Roll with it. Then sleep. SLEEP, darn you! And try, try again!

Day 1 of NaNo in the bag!

This month, among everything else, I'm eagerly participating in the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for short).

You'll notice to the right, in the sidebar, I'll keep you updated with my progress. I'm thrilled with today's word count. The goal of NaNo is to finish 50,000 words between today and November 30. My goal is to go over that 50K. I'm shooting for 75 to 100K. Yes, full length novel here.

It's totally different for me, the full novel, but it's something I've wanted to do for a long time now. My longest story to date is just under 40K. Short stories have been my thing for the past four years, and although I'm not giving up on the short story, my heart longs for a meatier book.

Another way this one is different is that it won't be erotic. It'll be romance. Yes, there will be sex, but it'll fall into the suspense/thriller category of romance.

So it is with great excitement I share this news with you, before heading off to bed. I've put in a full day, I met my word count (I wanted to get 2K today), wrote the rough draft of the prologue, and now it's time to brainstorm tomorrow's opening chapter.

Until next time,

Good Evening,

Have I got a treat for you! I've a second post at TRS today and this one is an extended excerpt from one of my older stories, Party Girl from the Soul Debt multi-author series. This tale is very fitting for this pre-Halloween week as it involves demons of all shapes and sizes and one human woman who will do anything to have what she wants...even make a deal to sell her soul...

New Scifi Release on Sale Today!

The Theme of Malathix Soul (box set): Scifi/futuristic Erotic Romance. Imagine Earth has established interactions with alien life. There is, of course, protocol to follow. A merchant planet, Malathix, wants to open relations with Earth and sends a ship to make this happen. When the ship enters our atmosphere, however, something goes awry, and the result is that the ship is destroyed and the Malathix are stranded. This is only a minor issue, though. The bigger problem is that their souls were stripped during the descent which results in their inner defense mechanisms--literal metal and scary sharp-everything beasts--being left unchecked. The only way to find balance is to locate the women to whom their souls became attached, and to convince each one that they are destined to be mates.

In Soulless, Laya, a waitress in New Texas, doesn't understand why Space Lord Theradon is chasing her. Is it to kill her, or to love her?

In Broken, Thorn's determination to rescue his stranded brother is offset by Yvette, the female whose very existence could mean the salvation of their planet.

In Jagged, Camden lives with the guilt that he's responsible for their being stranded, but he refuses to open up to his mate, Deidre, who will give him all the answers he needs if he'd not only trust her, but his beast as well.

I'm super excited that this box set: Malathix Soul, is available everywhere fine ebooks are sold as of today. You can pick up a copy from Amazon, All Romance eBooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and Coffee Time Romances! So many choices; it's wonderful!

Okay, so this box set comprises of not exactly "new" stories, but they are newly smooshed together at a price that way beats what you would've paid for the stories individually (and the individual stories are no longer for sale). Besides, reading a series all at once takes you on the emotional ride the writer intended in the first place...without having to wait months inbetween.

Buy Links for your quick and easy pleasure ('cause I'm awesome like that)  ;)

And have a fantastic, wonderful day!

Inspiring Music

A few years ago, when I wrote the stories that make up the Malathix Soul Box Set, I didn't simply sit down and pump out the tales. No, the entire beginning of this series had been working in my brain for quite some time as it was. And it all began with a song.

As I had listened to this particular song, a story had swirled and formed until I had no choice but to write it down. This became Soulless. When I then turned to write Broken and Jagged, the same song wouldn't fit, but it led me to look at other songs that called to me, that seemed to embody the essence of what my characters were going through or needing.

Enjoy the links below that will take you to each of the songs that led to the Malathix Soul Box Set. Warning, like the stories, the music is hard and a little dark, but it's spot on. ;)

(Please note that the links for the songs are to YouTube. Personally, I enjoy the listening more than the "seeing." Enjoy either way!)

Soulless was inspired by
"Space Lord" by Monster Magnet.

Broken was inspired by
"Erase My Scars" by Evans Blue

Jagged was inspired by
"Far From Home" by Five Finger Death Punch

Oh, and if you want to see how these stories turned out,
drop by Changeling and pick up the Box Set
Reading these stories back-to-back is an exhilarating experience!

Have a fantastic Hump Day!

Scintillating Sunday blog hop (with Aliens)

Please enjoy your Sunday with 8 paragraphs from my latest release, Malathix Soul (a box set). The following excerpt is taken from book 2 in the set, Broken. It's available exclusively (for now) from Changeling Press.

“Hi,” she started.

“Are you okay?” It sounded stupid to her ears, but she couldn’t think of a single sensible thing to say. She prayed he didn’t ask why she was on his lap. She’d bet her life’s savings that telling him pictures in her head told her to do this wouldn’t go over well.

While she’d been lost in his tattoo -- and even now her hands continued to trace the patterns -- he’d shifted out of his beast form. His hands, the claws having receded, grazed her hips, wrapped around her ass and pulled her harder against his body. “I think I’ll be all right.”

She pushed her hips back away from him. What was going on? She didn’t want sex. Did she? She didn’t even know this male. Wait. What were they doing here? She had to take him somewhere, didn’t she? There was something they had to do.

His firm grip massaged her hips.

That’s right. She wanted to… she wanted to…

Pictures of how he’d feel deep inside her as she sat on him flooded her mind. Yes, that was it. I want to have sex with him. I need to have him deep inside me.

If you want more, you can pick up your own copy today from Changeling Press.
Thank you for visiting today! Now, don't forget to share the love and hop on over to the next blog below!
